Preakness 2026 guide: Where to watch, what time it starts, channel, odds and what to expect

Published:

The second leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown has arrived.

The 151st running of the Preakness Stakes takes place Saturday from Laurel Park, a one-year change from its usual home of Baltimore’s Pimlico Race Course while Pimlico undergoes renovations.

The race will not include Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo, after trainer Cherie DeVaux said the horse’s health was her rationale in giving Golden Tempo nearly a one-month break between racing the Derby and returning for the Triple Crown’s third leg, the Belmont Stakes, on June 6. The 14-horse Preakness field includes three Derby entrants, led by Ocelli, which finished third.

That doesn’t mean there won’t still be familiar Derby faces on Saturday. With Golden Tempo not running its jockey, Jose Ortiz, will instead ride Chip Honcho.
