Bhopal:

A CCTV footage of late model Twisha Sharma has emerged from her salon visit before her death, as sensational details come to the fore in the case that involves allegations of dowry and mental harassment.

Sharma visited the salon around 3:12 pm on May 12, hours before she was found hanging at her in-laws’ house in Bhopal. At the salon, the video shows her getting a head massage and pedicure. She left around 6:15 pm – after nearly three hours.

A day later, Sharma’s mother-in-law Giribala Singh called the salon and made repeated inquiries about her visit, the salon’s owner Kiran Parihar told NDTV.

Sharma was a regular client at the salon and had visited four-five times earlier as well. However, this time, it was after a gap of nine months, Parihar recalled. The next morning, she said Giribala Singh, also a regular client of hers, called her asking for CCTV footage of her visit the previous evening.

Singh, a retired judge, had multiple queries. She inquired when her daughter-in-law had visited the salon, the precise time when she left, and how she made the payment, recalled the salon’s owner. Parihar said she repeatedly asked her whether there was any proof or record showing Sharma had visited the salon, be it of a payment.

But Sharma had not made any payment during that visit since she already had a prepaid salon package that she had purchased around February for her brother’s wedding.

A second call from her came in the afternoon, asking for footage of Sharma’s visit. Parihar recalled that she was worried and asked if she was okay. Singh told her that Sharma had died by suicide.

Shortly after, a group of around five-six people arrived at the salon, wearing black-and-white clothes like that of a lawyer. A woman in the group identified herself as an advocate and asked for footage of Sharma’s visit, claiming that the police needed it. Parihar said they summoned the CCTV technician and extracted the footage in front of her.

However, despite their claim of being lawyers, the identities of the members of the group remain unknown, adding a layer of mystery to the death case that has gripped the headlines for over a week.

Twisha Sharma, who was from Noida, was found hanging at her in-laws’ house in Bhopal on May 12, after what her family had alleged was mental harassment by her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh due to dowry demands.

The police claim that the post-mortem report and the investigation so far indicate that it was a suicide. A second autopsy of Sharma’s body will be done at the request of her family, which the Madhya Pradesh High Court has approved.

Evading the cops for 10 days, Samarth Singh was eventually arrested yesterday and will be produced in court today.
