Mahanaaryaman Scindia, the president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association and an entrepreneur in the artificial intelligence sector, is setting a new benchmark for sports administration in India. By bridging the gap between his background in tech and his role as a young leader in cricket, Scindia aims to eliminate administrative “haze” through a first-of-its-kind Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Speaking at NDTV’s YUVA 2026 event on Saturday, Scindia highlighted how he aims to ease selection processes in cricket associations with the use of technology.
For Scindia, the opportunity to modernise the game lies in a specific intersection of leadership and technology. He explains the motivation behind his latest project: “As a young leader, I believe there are a few primary ways to drive meaningful change, starting with the integration of technology into sports administration.
“Currently, India has yet to see a dedicated ERP for cricket. Given my background with my own AI startup, I wanted to infuse those learnings into the sport.”
The primary challenge in state-level cricket has often been the disconnect between the central association and the grassroots levels. Scindia’s proposed ERP aims to standardise these interactions, particularly for the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association’s divisions and districts.
“We are currently in the ideation phase of a novel ERP designed to manage administration, compliance, and player selection. At present, the connection between the MPCA and its underlying divisions and districts is often hazy regarding accounting and committee processes,” he said during the event.
To solve this, the platform will automate the financial and compliance pipeline, ensuring that every grant and reimbursement is backed by verified data:
“This platform will ensure that all grants, compliances, and reimbursements are handled technologically. You have to first apply for a grant. When you upload your requirements for a grant, an AI model will automatically flag any missing requirements.”
Digitising Selection Process
Perhaps the most significant shift will occur in the selection room. By digitising performance metrics, the MPCA intends to move toward a model where every selection is justifiable and transparent to the governing body.
“The response from the association has been very positive. This system will foster transparency by feeding data points, such as runs and wickets, directly into the ERP. Selectors will be able to analyse players on a dashboard and build their teams digitally before sending them to the MPCA for final approval. It is a fully transparent process, led entirely by technology.”
If successful, the MPCA’s model could serve as the digital blueprint for cricket associations across the country, and might even be replaced by the Indian Premier League (IPL), the country’s top cricketing league, in the future.
